Everyone is welcome to participate and spectate as they enjoy a festive day in La Jolla.

The Holiday Festival is open from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm. The Parade starts at 1:30 pm and lasts for about 90 minutes.

The City of San Diego provides Police and other Security services to ensure a safe event.

Yes.  All streets comply with ADA regulations. In addition, there is a designated ADA area (see "Parade Map"). ADA parking is available in the Wells Fargo Parking Lot located at 7714 Girard Ave, La Jolla, CA 92037. A parking pass is required to clear the barricades. To request a pass, please call (858) 922-4046 or email us with the subject line "ADA Parking Pass Request." Please note there is a $25.00 parking fee that must be paid upon arrival. To receive reimbursement, kindly take a picture of your parking ticket/pass and complete the Reimbursement Form. We offer reimbursement via Zelle, PayPal, or a check. We apologize for the inconvenience caused, as the parking company has made it challenging to rent the lot or reserve spaces in advance. Directions to the parking lot: - Enter from Fay Ave and turn right onto Silverado Street. - Show your parking pass at the checkpoint. - Proceed up the street to the alley, turn right, and follow the alley. - The parking lot is located just before you reach Kline Street. The event has never in its 67-year history been cancelled. The organizers will continue this rain-or-shine policy unless a freak storm should arrive. The City of San Diego direction will, of course, be followed.

No -- they are two parts of the same event. The Holiday Festival opens at 11:30 AM at Girard & Wall Streets and the Parade starts at Kline & Girard at 1:30 PM. The Event closes at 4:00PM.

Yes. The Parade is organized and managed by a 501c3 foundation, and all organizers are volunteers.  The Foundation is entirely supported by donations from community businesses and members. The costs (permits, security, administration, portable toilets, event barriers and tables, cleanup, etc.) increase every year, and we very much appreciate any and all donations. This event is in the main commercial district of La Jolla. There is a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and snack bars who will be pleased to serve you.

It is a traditional holiday Parade with bands, floats, equestrians, vintage vehicles, dog units, Marshals representing community leaders, schools, and community service organizations.

Any person or group or organization can submit an entry for approval. Slots are limited and priority is given to members of the La Jolla and San Diego community. Entries should demonstrate the spirit of the Holiday Season. They may integrate modest promotion of products and organizations, but the event organizers are likely to reject entries who solely focus on that aspect.

No.  The organizers must have the discretion to choose the order that is best for the event.

Your entry must include designation of a leader of your group. The Parade organizers will assign a coordinator to communicate with this leader.  After entry confirmation, this communication link should be established by the coordinator. If this has not happened,  please send an email to info@ljparade.com.

Yes, subject to the following constraints. The Parade includes a printed program, so changes to that information must be submitted at least two weeks before the event. Also, there are space limitations, so changes that increase the size of your entry must be approved by the organizers.

Yes. But they must hand them out (i.e., throwing items is forbidden).

No! Only one Santa will be allowed.  This "official" Santa will be at the Holiday Festival and will also be the at the end of the Parade and thereby signal its conclusion.

You will receive arrival and assembly instructions upon checking in for the La Jolla Christmas Parade. A check-in email will be sent to the designated contact for each entry. Upon successful check-in, you will promptly receive a confirmation email detailing your check-in status along with specific arrival and assembly instructions. If you don't find this email in your inbox, please check your JUNK/SPAM folder. Check-In opens on Monday, November 25 and closes on Tuesday, December 3. We kindly ask each entry's point of contact to pass along the arrival/assembly instructions. As a volunteer-led foundation, we lack the resources to relay this information to each member of your group.

This year, we've streamlined the process: there's no need for an in-person check-in. Instead, the check-in will be conducted online. Please watch for an email from noreply.ljparadecheckin@gmail.com with the subject "Check-In Now Open for the La Jolla Christmas Parade!," which will be sent at NOON on November 26th. Remember to check your SPAM/Junk folder as well. Online check-in is available starting November 26th and MUST be completed by 12 Noon PST on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024. After completing the check-in, you will receive an automatic confirmation email containing detailed arrival instructions. Please be advised that failure to complete your Check-In by 12 Noon PST on Tuesday, December 3rd will result in the cancellation of your entry, barring access to the Parade.

The organizer call the location Santa's Village. It features Santa visits for children, arts-and-crafts, science, and Play.

At visits with Santa, there isn't a professional photographer available. You're welcome to bring your own camera or use your phone to capture the moment. An event staff member, or even someone else in line is usually willing to help take a picture.

No, appointments are not mandatory. However, due to high demand, we recommend booking a time online to join the VIP queue. Walk-ins are welcome but will be accommodated after scheduled appointments. Click Here to reserve a time.
